The 2020 vintage in Tuscany was characterized by a mild winter, a warm spring, and a hot, dry summer. Ripening progressed quickly and evenly. Rain and cool nights at the end of August provided ideal conditions for full ripeness, especially for Merlot. Overall, a vintage with great potential and good balance. In the INVERSUS, unlike all other Casaloste wines, Merlot rather than Sangiovese dominates. Various so-called Super Tuscans demonstrate that the Merlot grape can produce some of the region's finest wines in Tuscany. The rich nose impresses with complex dark aromas such as cassis, dark chocolate, cedarwood, and black pepper. On the palate, the fully ripe grapes ensure a mellow, silky tannin structure, making the wine remarkably approachable. It remains impressive in its power and strength, but never loses its perfect harmony within the overall picture.
