93+/100 PP From Mölsheim, still on the Rheinhessen site of the Zellertal, the 2020 Zellerweg Am Schwarzen Herrgott Riesling GG is very clear and bright yet also deep, complex and salty on the coolish nose that still shows a yeasty layer. Silky, elegant and juicy on the palate, with fine spiciness and still somewhat brittle tannins on the still-bitter finish, this is too reductive in the mouth to start singing at this stage. Time will tell us more about the real nature of this always exciting Riesling. Tasted in Wiesbaden at the end of August 2021.
