This Port wine is vinified from the grape varieties Sousão, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Cão, Tinta Francisca, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Francesa, Touriga Nacional and other red varieties. The bouquet is dominated by multi-layered aromas of red cherry fruit and spices, complemented by a delicate pepper note and hints of dark chocolate. This wonderfully concentrated, full-bodied yet soft and elegant Port wine displays firm tannins. Its beautiful acidity structure lends this Port freshness and balance. The Port is rounded off by a pleasant, long finish. Vinification of Niepoort Late Bottled Vintage The manually harvested grapes from the Niepoort estate come from vineyards in the Cima Corgo region of the Douro Valley. They are first carefully selected, then pressed, and the resulting must is fermented on the skins and stems, which are traditionally trodden by foot in lagares. Afterwards, this Port matures for four years in large oak casks and vats in the cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia.
