Als die französische Winzerdynastie Rothschild das Weingut Los Vascos 1988 übernahm erkannte sie schnell das Potential des Colchagua Valleys für Cabernet Sauvignon. Mit der Erfahrung aus dem Bordeaux, wo die Rebsorte ebenfalls als das edelste Gewächs gilt, waren es von Anfang an diese konzentrierten, aber gleichwohl eleganten Weine, die das Renomée von Los Vascos begründeten. Das Bukett verströmt intensive Aromen nach roten und schwarzen Früchten sowie würzige Anklänge: Wir finden rote Kirsche, dunkle Waldbeeren, Pflaume und Erdbeere ebenso wie Noten von Muskat und Nelke. Am Gaumen dicht mit samtigen Tanninen, präsentiert sich der Los Vascos Cabernet Sauvignon mit einem charmant fruchtbetonten Charakter. Im langen Abgang nehmen wir zudem eine leichte Kräuterwürze war. Currants, red plums and green olives follow through to a medium-bodied palate with lightly chewy tannins and a crunchy, medium-length finish. Not complex, but quite well-balanced.
