Blanc Moelleux Bordeaux AOC - Château Rousseau
Blanc Moelleux Bordeaux AOC - Château RousseauA luminous straw yellow with gentle golden reflections plays in the glass as Blanc Moelleux Bordeaux AOC - Château Rousseau unfolds. From the very first swirl, an intense aroma rises up. Ripe peaches, juicy apricots, plus orange marmalade, delicate hints of honey and a touch of blossom nectar rise to the nose. In the background there are fine citrus notes, some candied lemon peel and a hint of exotic fruit, such as pineapple and mango. On the palate, this sweet Bordeaux white comes across as fruit-driven and yet surprisingly fresh. The cuvée of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon shows a charming sweetness that does not overwhelm, but appears harmoniously integrated. Ripe peach and orange marmalade meet accents of acacia honey and lightly caramelised citrus zest. The acidity is lively, bringing tension into play and carrying the sweetness elegantly through to the finish. The texture on the palate feels soft, almost creamy, without losing its lightness. The alcohol content of 11 percent by volume provides a slender body that makes the wine highly moreish. The sweetness closely embraces the fruit, while a touch of mineral freshness provides elegant structure. The finish lingers with notes of honey, dried apricot and a fine hint of candied orange. On the nose, there is an aromatic interplay of fruit, blossom and sweet impressions. Peach and orange marmalade are particularly prominent. Added to this are notes of linden blossom, orange blossom and a hint of jasmine. Subtle notes of vanilla sugar and caramel round off the bouquet. The aromas appear clear and pure, without heavy opulence, rather playful and seductive. The style of the wine is inspired by classic, sweet Bordeaux Blanc Moelleux. It presents itself as fruit-driven, soft, charming and yet with a finely chiselled line of acidity. This structure prevents any heaviness and gives the wine a wonderfully playful character. Its freshness stems from the Atlantic climate around Bordeaux, while the intense aromas of honey and marmalade come from the ripe harvest. Typical of the region’s terroir, sandy and partly gravelly soils shape the character. These soils give Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon plenty of aromatic finesse and a slightly salty, mineral note. In this cuvée, Sauvignon Blanc appears with radiant citrus fruit and floral lightness. Sémillon contributes fullness, honey nuances, rounded texture and notes of dried fruit. Together they create a sensual yet clearly structured wine that brings joy to every glass. Production of Blanc Moelleux Bordeaux AOC from Château Rousseau The grapes for this wine come from selected parcels within the Bordeaux appellation. The oceanic climate with mild winters and warm but not overheated summers ensures a long ripening period. The vines benefit from the alternation of sunshine and fresh breezes, often near the river courses of the Garonne and Dordogne. Gravel and sandy soils warm up quickly but do not store extreme heat, which favours aromatic development. In this cuvée, Sauvignon Blanc contributes its typical citrus freshness and fine aromas of white blossoms, grapefruit and lime. It provides clarity and lively acidity. Sémillon delivers the counterpart: fullness, honey notes, juicy stone fruit and a slightly creamy texture. Together they create a wine that carries the sweetness stylishly and does not tire the palate. For the Blanc Moelleux, harvesting is carried out with a focus on aromatic ripeness. The winemakers choose a time when the grapes contain plenty of sugar and still sufficient acidity. In part, selective harvesting in several passes is used to bring only grapes with the ideal degree of ripeness into the cellar. This creates the basis for the expressive sweetness and clear fruit. In the cellar, the grapes first undergo gentle pressing. A short maceration time on the skins intensifies the peach ...| Price |
