On the palate, the Côte des Roses Pinot Noir from Gerard Bertrand starts off pleasantly aromatic, fruit-driven and balanced. On the tongue, this well-balanced red wine is characterized by an immensely dense texture. On the finish, this youthful wine from the Languedoc winegrowing region finally delights with a lovely length. Nuances of blackberry and rose once again become apparent. In the aftertaste, mineral notes from the limestone- and gravel-dominated soils are also added. Vinification of the Côte des Roses Pinot Noir from Gerard Bertrand This red wine clearly focuses on a single grape variety, namely Pinot Noir. Only the best grape material was used for this wonderfully balanced varietal wine from Gerard Bertrand. In Languedoc, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on limestone and gravel soils. Due to the moderating influence of the nearby sea, the wine berries ripen more slowly and develop greater aromatic depth. After being harvested by hand, the grapes are brought to the press house as quickly as possible. There they are selected and gently crushed. This is followed by fermentation in large wooden vats at controlled temperatures. After fermentation, the wine matures for several months on the fine lees before it is finally bottled. Food recommendation for Gerard Bertrand Côte des Roses Pinot Noir This French wine is best enjoyed at a temperature of 15–18°C. It is perfectly suited as an accompanying wine to vegetable couscous with beef meatballs, fried calf’s liver with apples, onions and balsamic sauce, or braised chicken in red wine.
