Bonpas Vieilles Vignes 50 Ans Côtes-du-Rhône AOC 0,75 ℓ
The Vieilles Vignes from the Bonpas estate is a red wine made from Grenache and Carignan grapes sourced from vines over 50 years old grown in the southern part of the Côtes-du-Rhône appellation, on complex clay-limestone soils with a high presence of pebbles. The name of the estate derives from Bon passage, referring to the safe crossing of the Durance River that once connected Rome to Avignon. The vinification follows the tradition of the Rhône Valley: the Grenache is co-fermented with Carignan, placed at the bottom of the vat to promote optimal extraction of aromatic compounds and anthocyanins. The pomace is immersed in the warm must at 25°C towards the end of fermentation for ideal maceration. The process, spanning 2-3 weeks with daily pump-overs, develops the wine's aromatic bouquet and roundness. Aging continues for eight months in stainless steel and concrete vats. The nose perceives aromas of ripe red fruit with notes of licorice. The sip is soft and enveloping, dominated by the sweetness of the Grenache and hints of Mediterranean scrub. The ensemble shows an excellent gustatory balance with a slightly spicy finish and a marked minerality conferred by the terroir.Ideal paired with grilled meats, eggplant and tomato gratin, or duck breast.| Price |
