Masseria Ficarigna Salento IGT Susumaniello 0,75 ℓ

Masseria Ficarigna Salento IGT Susumaniello 0,75 ℓThis Salento Susumaniello comes to life from one of the native grape varieties that are the pride of the Salento peninsula, with Masseria Ficarigna as its spokesperson. The winery name refers to the prickly pear plant, a symbolic fruit of Salento. The label depicts a donkey, the pack animal traditionally used to carry baskets of prickly pears to the market. The grapes are harvested in mid-September. The winemaking process begins with grape crushing, followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature of 22-24°C with skin maceration for 6-8 days. It is then aged in steel until bottling. With a ruby red color, it offers a complex aromatic bouquet on the nose, ranging from fruity notes of black currant and plum to notes of thyme and ink, with touches of flint in the finish. The taste is smooth and well-balanced, characterized by soft tannins and a pleasant freshness. It pairs well with red meat-based first and second courses, but also excellently accompanies rich platters of aged cheeses.
