This is carried by the aromas of red and black berry fruits, cherries, cassis and a touch of lavender. This Californian red wine cuvée is spicy on the palate with a well-integrated wood note. Its elegant structure and pleasant tannins lead into a long, aromatic finish. Vinification of the Director's Cut Cabernet Sauvignon The Alexander Valley is a long, narrow valley that runs from north to south. While the southern part is cooler due to the fog that still penetrates there, the northern part has a reliably warm climate that is particularly suited to the cultivation of this late-ripening grape variety. The soils have a great variety, from red volcanic soils in the east, to alluvial soils at the bottom of the valley, to clay soils interspersed with boulders in the west. This cuvée is composed of the grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. After harvest and fermentation, the Director's Cut Cabernet Sauvignon was aged for 12 months in French oak barriques.
