Paul Cluver Chardonnay does South Africa proud: At the Five nations Challenge recently judge in Australia the Paul Cluver Chardonnay won the trophies for the best Chardonnay and Best White Wine of the Show. This challenge takes place between 5 Southern Hemisphere nations – Chile, Argentina, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. In effect our chardonnay has been rated best chardonnay and best white wine in the Southern Hemisphere! “I am absolutely delighted with the achievements of this wine. It is fantastic recoqnition for our whole team who works incredibly hard to produce wines of the highest standard while retaining our own sense of identity”, says Paul Cluver. The Chardonnay has already achieved great success. It started in May 2010 on the eve of its release, when the Old Mutual Miele Chardonnay Trophy was scooped. In November the John Platter 2011 guide gave it 4.5 stars and it was nominated for 5 stars. In March this year it made the Top 100 SA Wines list and in April the Grape Top 100 wines list. In May it was awarded the Old Mutual Miele Chardonnay Trophy second year running, and was also given the Best White Wine of the Show and International Judges Choice Trophy. This last result comes two weeks after Robert Parkers rating of South African wines was released. The Paul Cluver Chardonnay 2009 was given a rating of 92 points.
