Riesling Grosse Lage Forster Ungeheuer Andres

This Riesling comes from one of the most legendary vineyards in the Palatinate, which was already among the most renowned in the world over 100 years ago. The unique soil composition of basalt, calcareous marl, and variegated sandstone decisively shapes the character of this wine: the basalt retains heat and imparts structure, the limestone provides freshness and a saline tension, while the variegated sandstone contributes richness and depth. With low yields of around 30 hl/ha, the grapes are selectively harvested and fermented entirely with natural yeasts in large wooden casks. On the nose, the Riesling is still youthful, with hints of exotic fruit, delicate spice, and a subtle reduction. On the palate, it is highly precise, mineral, and expressive, with a taut, wiry structure, abundant freshness, and impressive salinity. A great Riesling with exceptional aging potential.
