Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Poggio di Sotto - ColleMassari

2018 was a very good vintage in Montalcino, with a very respectable quantity. In the glass, a typical deep ruby red. On the nose, as is so often the case, a bouquet reminiscent of Burgundy. Many ethereal notes and a subtle reduction dominate the initial impression. Dark aromas such as tar, black tea, and slightly smoky notes, along with an impressive minerality reminiscent of iron and blood. Very refined with silky tannins. Delicate red fruit notes of cornelian cherry and plum compote, dried rose petals, and again a salty minerality. Incredibly complex and refined. In the finish, a hint of vanilla, even though no new oak was used in the aging process. This is truly remarkable and certainly a long-distance runner that will still provide great pleasure in 20 years.
