Cold Creek Cabernet Sauvignon - Chateau Ste. Michelle

Cold Creek Cabernet Sauvignon - Chateau Ste. MichelleCold Creek Cabernet Sauvignon - Chateau Ste. MichelleThe powerful Cold Creek Cabernet Sauvignon, crafted by Chateau Ste. Michelle, glides into the glass with a dense ruby red. When tilting the glass slightly, a transition of the color tone toward garnet-red is visible at the edges of this barrel-aged wine. By swirling it gently in the glass, this red reveals a high viscosity, evident in strong church windows at the rim. On the nose, this Chateau Ste. Michelle red wine presents various blueberries, sour cherries, blackberries, mulberries, and plums. As if that weren’t impressive enough, additional aromas such as dark chocolate, black tea, and toasted barrique develop through aging in small oak barrels. This wine impresses with its elegantly dry taste profile. It was bottled with an exceptionally low residual sugar content. Naturally, as expected from a wine in the icon segment, this North American delight captivates with a fine balance despite its dryness. Aroma doesn’t necessarily require residual sugar. On the palate, the texture of this powerful red is wonderfully velvety and dense. The finish of this matured red from the Washington wine region, specifically from Columbia Valley, is notable for its considerable aftertaste. The finish is also accompanied by mineral nuances from the soils dominated by clay and sand. Vinification of the Cold Creek Cabernet Sauvignon from Chateau Ste. Michelle The basis for the powerful Cold Creek Cabernet Sauvignon from Washington is grapes of the Cabernet Sauvignon variety. In Washington, the vines producing the grapes for this wine grow in soils composed of clay and sand. When physiological maturity is achieved, the grapes for the Cold Creek Cabernet Sauvignon are harvested exclusively by hand, without the aid of coarse, less selective machinery. After manual harvest, the grapes are quickly transported to the press house, where they are sorted and gently crushed. This is followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks and small oak barrels at controlled temperatures. Once fermentation is complete, the Cold Creek Cabernet Sauvignon matures for several more months in barrels made of French and American oak. Food pairing recommendations for Chateau Ste. Michelle Cold Creek Cabernet Sauvignon Enjoy this red wine from the USA best at 15-18°C as an accompaniment to baked sweet potatoes with goat cheese, fennel salad with red lentils, or pasta with bratwurst meatballs.
