Poured into a red wine glass, this Old World red reveals wonderfully complex aromas of acacia, rounded off by pepper, cloves and vanilla contributed by aging in wooden casks. On the palate, La Vrille’s Fumin opens wonderfully aromatic, fruit-driven and balanced. Powerful and complex, this dense, meaty and velvety red presents itself on the palate. On the finish, this wine from the Valle d’Aosta wine-growing region delights with impressive length. Once again, hints of acacia appear. In the aftertaste, mineral notes from the sand-dominated soils join in. Vinification of La Vrille Fumin This wine clearly focuses on a single grape variety, namely Fumin. Only flawless grape material was used for this wonderfully powerful varietal wine from La Vrille. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in the Valle d’Aosta. Here, the vines drive their roots deep into sandy soils. After harvesting, the grapes are brought to the winery as quickly as possible. There, they are selected and gently crushed. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks and large wooden casks at controlled temperatures. After fermentation is complete, the powerful Fumin is aged for another 12 months in oak barrels. Food pairing for La Vrille Fumin This red wine from Italy is best enjoyed at a tempered 15–18°C. It is perfectly suited as an accompaniment to braised chicken in red wine, vegetable couscous with beef meatballs, or duck breast with snow peas.
