Fuerza Jumilla DOP - Ego Bodegas

Fuerza Jumilla DOP - Ego BodegasFuerza Jumilla DOP - Ego BodegasIn the glass, Fuerza Jumilla DOP - Ego Bodegas appears in a deep, dark purple with bright reflections, almost like liquid ink. The intensely colored robe already visually suggests concentration and immediately arouses curiosity. When swirled, thick church windows form, an indication of richness and the generous alcohol content of 14.5 percent by volume. On the nose, this cuvée of Monastrell and Cabernet Sauvignon opens with a fragrant, modern presence. Ripe blackberries, blackcurrants and sour cherries rise up intensely. They are joined by a hint of cassis liqueur, dark plum and a fine touch of elderberry. The fruit merges with notes of dark chocolate, cocoa and a touch of espresso. Fresh accents of eucalyptus, mint and lemon balm lend the bouquet a cool counterpoint. With exposure to air, Fuerza Jumilla DOP - Ego Bodegas unfolds a complex second layer. Spicy tones of black pepper, licorice and a touch of clove emerge. Light roasted aromas, vanilla and a hint of toast bear witness to maturation in French oak. Finally, a delicate hint of smoke appears, along with a fine mineral note reminiscent of warm stones after summer rain. On the palate, this DOP from Jumilla presents itself dense, powerful and yet surprisingly finely delineated. The texture feels velvety and tightly woven, with plenty of extract and clear structure. Juicy blackberry, blackcurrant and cherry dominate the opening. In the mid-palate, dark chocolate, mocha, dried herbs and cool eucalyptus notes join in. The acidity remains precise and supports the fruit without pushing itself into the foreground. The tannins appear ripe, grippy and well-integrated. They give the wine backbone and provide a powerful, but never rough mouthfeel. The body feels full and concentrated, yet remains elegant and perfectly balanced. The long finish once again brings cassis, chocolate and a delicate spiciness into play. A hint of mint lingers with fresh, appetizing appeal. The origin in Jumilla in the Murcia region clearly shapes the style. Hot, dry summers, barren soils with limestone and stones as well as cool nights offer ideal conditions for Monastrell. The vines root deeply and produce grapes with intense aromatics and natural structure. Cabernet Sauvignon complements this power with firm lines, dark fruit and a fine tannin profile. The result is a red wine that combines the Old World with modern ambition. The typical strengths of this wine are particularly evident in three areas: Intense, dark fruit with cassis, blackberry and sour cherry Spicy complexity of chocolate, coffee, pepper and herbs Dense yet elegant structure with a long, harmonious finish To describe the style, it is worth looking at three central elements that shape this red wine: Monastrell provides richness, ripe fruit and southern warmth Cabernet Sauvignon adds structure, depth and fine tannins Barrique aging lends elegance, complexity and cellaring potential Fuerza Jumilla DOP - Ego Bodegas is aimed at connoisseurs who appreciate modern Spanish red wines with a clear signature. The style is fragrant, complex and at the same time very approachable. The awards from renowned critics such as Decanter, Guía Peñín, James Suckling, Vinous and Wine Enthusiast underscore this ambition and show the level that ends up in the glass. Production of Fuerza Jumilla DOP by Ego Bodegas The grapes for this cuvée come from selected sites in the DOP Jumilla in Murcia. The climate is continentally influenced, with hot summers, low rainfall and large temperature differences between day and night. Calcareous, stony soils force the vines deep into the ground, resulting in concentrated berries with intense aromas. Monastrell, the region’s leading variety, brings southern power, dense fruit and a natural spiciness to the wine. Cabernet Sauvignon complements this with structure, dark cassis notes and a fine tannin framework. Together they create a cuvée that combines Mediterranean warmth with an international profile and at the same time remains firmly rooted in the Old World. The harvest is carried out by hand. This way, only carefully selected, fully ripe grapes reach the cellar. The harvest team works parcel by parcel, picking each at the optimal time. In this way, Ego Bodegas preserves freshness, fruit and the individuality of each site. Gentle handling of the harvested fruit forms the basis for the high quality in the glass. At the winery, another selection takes place at the sorting table. Only the best berries make it into the fermentation vessels. Gentle crushing and controlled maceration extract color, tannins and aromas from the skins. Fermentation is temperature-controlled so that the fruit remains clean and clear. Regular punching down of the cap ensures intense extraction without creating coarse bitter notes. After fermentation, the wine matures for twelve months in 225-liter barriques made of French oak. These barrels contribute notes of vanilla, cocoa, toast and fine spice. At the same time, maturation ...
