Chardonnay Meursault AOC - Joseph DrouhinChardonnay Meursault AOC - Joseph DrouhinThe Chardonnay Meursault from Joseph Drouhin in Burgundy presents a bright, golden-yellow color in the swirled glass. After the first swirl, one can perceive a perfect balance in this white wine, as it does not appear watery nor syrupy or liqueur-like on the sides of the glass. In the glass, this white wine from Joseph Drouhin reveals aromas of pears and mirabelles, complemented by linden blossom and honey. Joseph Drouhin Chardonnay Meursault delights with its elegantly dry flavor profile. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. This is a genuine quality wine that clearly sets itself apart from simpler qualities and thus, despite all its dryness, this French wine enchants with the finest balance. Excellent flavor does not necessarily require a lot of residual sugar. On the palate, this well-balanced white wine is characterized by an incredibly silky texture. On the finish, this highly age-worthy wine from the Burgundy winegrowing region finally impresses with considerable length. Once again, nuances of pear and mirabelle appear. In the aftertaste, mineral notes from the limestone- and marl-dominated soils join in. Vinification of Joseph Drouhin Chardonnay Meursault The basis for the balanced Chardonnay Meursault from France is grapes of the Chardonnay variety. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Burgundy. Here, the vines drive their roots deep into soils of limestone and marl. Chardonnay Meursault is an Old World wine in the best sense of the term, as this French wine exudes an exceptional European charm that clearly underscores the success of wines from the Old World. At optimal ripeness, the grapes for Chardonnay Meursault are harvested exclusively by hand, without the use of strenuous and barely selective machinery. After the harvest, the grapes are brought to the press house as quickly as possible. There they are sorted and gently crushed. This is followed by fermentation in large wooden casks at controlled temperatures. After fermentation, the wine is aged for 12 months in oak barrels. Food recommendation for Chardonnay Meursault from Joseph Drouhin This white wine from France is best enjoyed well chilled at 8–10°C. It pairs perfectly as an accompaniment to spinach gratin with almonds, coconut-lime fish curry, or asparagus salad with quinoa.
