On the palate, this well-balanced red wine is characterized by an incredibly dense texture. The finish of this youthful red wine from the Tuscany wine region, specifically Toscana IGT, ultimately impresses with a good aftertaste. The finish is further accompanied by earthy notes from the mineral-rich soils dominated by marl and clay. Vinification of Teruzzi's Peperino Toscana The basis for the first-class and wonderfully balanced cuvée Peperino Toscana from Teruzzi are Merlot and Sangiovese grapes. In Tuscany, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils consisting of clay, sand, marl, and clay. At optimal ripeness, the grapes for Peperino Toscana are harvested exclusively by hand, without the aid of coarse and less selective harvesters. After the harvest, the grapes are quickly transported to the press house. Here they are sorted and gently crushed. Subsequently, fermentation takes place in small wooden vats at controlled temperatures. After fermentation, the Peperino Toscana is further aged for 8 months in oak barrels made from oak wood.
