Vinification of the Weingut Josef Leitz Cuvée WRC The basis for the balanced Cuvée WRC from Germany is grapes from the Chardonnay, Riesling, and Pinot Blanc varieties. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in the Rheingau. Here the vines drive their roots deep into soils of limestone and loess. The Cuvée WRC is an Old World wine through and through, as this German wine exudes an exceptional European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. A considerable influence on the development of the grapes also comes from the fact that the Chardonnay, Riesling, and Pinot Blanc grapes thrive under the influence of a rather cool climate. This is reflected, among other things, in particularly long and even ripening of the grapes and a rather moderate alcohol content in the wine. After harvesting, the grapes are quickly brought to the press house. There they are selected and gently crushed. This is followed by fermentation in large wooden vats at controlled temperatures. After fermentation, the wine is matured for several months in oak barrels. It is a perfect accompaniment to spinach gratin with almonds, spaghetti with yogurt-mint pesto, or leek tortilla.
