To Kalon Vineyard Heritage Clone - Schrader Cellars

The first vintage of 2018 from the Schrader Heritage Clone is bursting with ripe black and purple fruits. This wine comes from the N2S block at To Kalon Vineyard® and is dense and bright with an excellent palate and fine-grained tannins. We're excited to see how this wine develops with increasing bottle age, as it already shows great promise.After a wet and cool winter, both bud break and flowering began later than usual. The summer brought pleasant, even temperatures with very few heat spikes, which led to great phenolic development in the grapes and even ripening across all our vineyard sites. Due to the lower temperatures than usual in summer, the grapes were able to ripen long and evenly. This allowed for wonderful sugar development while maintaining consistent structure. In barrel, the wines displayed amazing depth and incredible character, beautifully showcasing the benefits of slow, even aging. The 2018 vintage is a winemaker's dream and has produced wines that offer exceptional enjoyment upon release and will age gracefully in your cellar.
