Malpastor Crianza - Miguel Torres

The La Carbonera winery is located in the Basque part of Rioja. The vines grow higher here, on calcareous soils, and produce elegant, expressive wines. The area used to be pastureland. Until the shepherds became interested in growing wine and established a tradition that is still alive today. Torres dedicates a wonderful Crianza to these malos pastores (bad shepherds): Malpastor. The single-varietal Tempranillo combines tradition and modernity with a perfect balance of maturity and freshness. After fermentation in stainless steel tanks and long yeast storage in concrete and wood, the wine is aged for a good twelve months in French and American oak and at least another six months in the bottle until it finally shines cherry red in the glass. Silky, lively, with lush fruit and gentle notes of maturity.
