Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil AOP Vieilles Vignes Amirault - Le Clos des Quarterons

Cuvée from the oldest plots of the Clos des Quarterons, family-owned for 180 years, averaging over 55 years old. Aged for around 18 months in the 500l wooden barrels called Demi-Muids. Needs some aeration, then characteristic aromas of sour cherry, violet, elderberry bush and a hint of paprika come through. Distinctive acidity, a touch of animalism, fruity sweetness, earthy and with surprisingly soft, even velvety tannins. Slightly chilled THE discerning summer red wine.
