The 2024 Chardonnay GROSSE LAGE Haardter Herzog QW from Andres comes from a top 35-hectare vineyard on the edge of the Palatinate Forest. Characterized by calcareous marl soils with components of variegated sandstone and siliceous debris, this site combines mineral depth with a cool climate, lending the wine its distinctive character. The rigorously selected grapes, from extremely low yields of around 25 hl/ha, are spontaneously fermented with natural yeasts. Aging takes place in equal parts new and used barriques, with the oak structuring the wine without dominating it. On the nose, the Chardonnay is restrained and precise, with delicate yellow fruit, cool notes, and a subtle reduction. On the palate, it impresses with a remarkable tension between elegant body and vibrant acidity, underpinned by freshness, saline minerality, and remarkable clarity. An exceptionally precise Chardonnay with depth, elegance, and excellent aging potential.
