Cana Vineyards Cana Vineyards 28372 Peckham Road Wilder, ID 83676 Cana Vineyards is located 35 miles west of Boise, overlooking the Snake River near the town of Wilder. It is completely a family operation with all vineyard efforts produced by Lawrence and Meg Dawson and children. Cana operations were begun in the spring of 1990 after the Dawson's moved from the Washington wine industry to take over one of Idaho's oldest vineyards. Since, the family has begun applying vineyard techniques learned in Washington. A South African trellising system known as the "gable" has been applied to a new planting of Merlot. The vineyards have also been converted to drip irrigation which is used to apply a wholly organic fertilizer. One of the existing grape varieties is being replanted with Merlot since eight years experience has revealed that the area has a micro climate supportive of Bordeaux style grapes.
